Dean Akey Founder Rescue Riders |
Howdy, I am Dean Akey and I am a biker. This is the point where you all collectively say Hi Dean;. I have been riding 25 years and am a AMA, HOG Abate member as well as being a member of the Medical Reserve Corps. In addition to being a biker I own a Insurance Agency in Saint Charles Illinois. Prior to that I moved around with stops in Champaign, Decatur, Kansas City, Boston, New York and Saint Louis working in Energy Commodities Derivatives. About four years ago I moved back to the Chicago area and soon tired of the Metra ride down to the Chicago Board of Trade and started my Allstate Agency. Time for a change. I attended Illinois State University for my undergraduate degree and the University of Oklahoma for my advanced studies in Economic Development. From 1982-1988 I served in the Illinois Army National Guard as a Artillery Forward Observer stationed at Fort Sill Oklahoma. I am the founder of the Rescue Rider program and have been active in fundraising efforts with numerous groups which help bikers. I reside outside of Batavia with my wife Eileen and two children Clayton and Emma.

John Leveille President Rescue Riders |
John Leveille has lived in Chicagoland all his life and has loved the thrill of riding motorcycles for as long as he can remember. The make and model that he owned was never as important as being out on the road. For the past 10+ years, Johns mechanical and risk management abilities have served the Banking Industry from the U.S. all the way to India, in the role of Customer Support Manager, before joining the Rescue Riders in 2009. Throughout his life, John has always played a leadership role on motorcycle rides and in high stress situations, making him a perfect fit within the Rescue Rider family, whose motto is 'Riding for a Reason'. John is Red Cross Certified in First Aid & Adult C.P.R., certified in Basic & Advanced Accident Scene Management, a member of Patriot Guard Riders, AMA and Abate. After riding for so many years, the training and community involvement Rescue Riders offers is held close to John and his family's heart providing an extension of other community service they have participated in.

Alan Larsen Vice President |
I've lived in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago now for 30 years, and prior to that
was a Nebraska Cornhusker. I've been riding for about 45 years now, currently on a '97 Harley
Road King. You can call me Dane or Alan either one, just don't call me late for dinner. I came
across the Rescue Riders and ASMI on the internet a few years ago. As luck would have it, that
was right after I saw the after effects of a rider going down hard into the rocks on a canyon road
in South Dakota. At least now, I won't ever have to endure that sickening feeling of helplessness again.
I am very excited about being named the Activities and Events Director for the Rescue Riders, and I look
forward to working closely with all the regional leaders and members.
I've been in the plastics industry for a little over 30 years now, currently working as a
plastics engineer for Molex, a global connector manufacturer based in the Chicago Area.
Besides motorcycles, my other passion is music. I play just about every brass instrument
there is, but I've played trumpet now for 44 years (Only 1 less than bikes!) and I have a
small brass instrument sales and repair business out of my house. In addition to Rescue Riders,
I also volunteer for another NFP, Bugles Across America. BAA is an all volunteer group of
buglers around the world that provide live taps on a real instrument at Veterans Funeral Honors.
Our goal is to make sure veterans and their families get the recognition and respect they deserve,
and don't have their dignity stolen by using either a recording or the dreaded electronic bugle.
